How to Sync Pictures to the iPad

Along with being a great ebook reader, music player, and gaming devices (with help from App Store), the iPad can function like a large, portable digital picture frame. What better way to take advantage of the iPad's big, beautiful screen than by showing off your best photos on it? To sync pictures to the iPad, follow these steps:

  •     Plug the iPad into your computer to sync it.
  •     When the iPad management screen appears, click the "Photos" tab at the top.
  •     Check the "Sync Photos" box at the top.
  •     From the drop-down menu next to that, select the program or folder that contains your photo library.
  •     Depending on what program you use, you'll have different options. These may include syncing individual galleries or your entire photo album.
  •     If you're syncing a folder of images, you can navigate through your hard drive to find the correct folder and then sync that entire folder or just select subfolders in it.
  •     Once all your settings are correct, click the "Apply" button at the bottom right corner of the iTunes window to sync again and add photos to your iPad.

Strategy Guide for IOS5 Jailbreaking

Well, it's just been taken up a notch again. Jailbreak developer and member of the Chronic Dev-Team, pod2g, has confirmed that one of the primary exploits they are working with to develop an untethered IOS5 jailbreak for all devices will be patched by Apple when they release 5.0.1 shortly (5.0.1 is already in beta testing with developers).

This means that if you want the best chance of an untethered jailbreak on IOS5 for an iPad1 or iPad2, then you must install 5.0 before Apple stops signing it and you must NOT upgrade to 5.0.1.

Remember, Apple have changed the way the SHSH Blobs work in IOS5, so they provide you absolutely no protection on 5.x. It is not sufficient to save 5.0gm blobs and use those at a later date to install 5.0. That will not work.

iPad2 WiFi Owners JB on 4.3.3
You guys have a harder decision. First you need to find out if you have your SHSH Blobs for 4.3.3 saved using our tutorial here - HOW TO - Save your SHSH Blobs with TinyUmbrella
If you do, then you will always be able to restore to 4.3.3 and get your jailbreak back. Your next decision is can you live without a jailbreak for a while in the anticipation that one is coming down the line? If so, then you should install 5.0 before the signing window closes (follow Step 3 above), but before you make the decision, read on into the next section so you understand my thoughts on the timescale you may be facing.
If it turns out you don't have blobs saved then iFaith is of no use to you since it does not support the iPad2 so you are in the same pickle as iPad2 3G owners, so read on into the next section for your strategy...

iPad2 3G Owners JB on 4.3.3
You guys (and this includes me too!) have the most difficult decision to make. Once we upgrade we can never go back under any circumstances, but you could be stuck on 5.0 for a long time without a jailbreak. Remember there is no ETA for anyone to release a new iPad2 jailbreak and whilst I don't want to be too negative at this stage, Chronic did not deliver last time despite months of apparent effort into the 4.x jailbreak. Giving them the benefit of the doubt and recognising the jailbreak development is a gargantuan task, well beyond anything I could achieve, we could still be looking at weeks or months before a release. Just because they have exploits does not make it a sure thing that the jailbreak will arrive any time soon! Remember, the exploits have been known for many months already.

So, you need to make a decision before the signing window for 5.0 is closed, are you willing to live without a jailbreak for an unknown period of time so that you have the best chance of a 5.x jailbreak when it comes out?
I can't answer this for you and I haven't' made up my mind myself yet

Again, remember, if you make the move to 5.0 (without a jailbreak) and anything goes wrong which requires you to restore, then you will be forced onto 5.0.1 (or above) and will potentially lose out. This of course is all predicated on the assumption that the exploit which is used to jailbreak will be the one which Apple patches in 5.0.1. It's a risk based call, and not an easy one...

All other iPad2 3G Owners (without a jailbreak).
For you guys it's pretty much a no-brainer. Ensure you are on 5.0 before the singing window closes and take care of your device so you are not forced to restore it for any reason.

Beta Testers using 5.0.1b2
If you are a developer and are testing out 5.0.1 in beta, then you can downgrade provided you initiate it before the signing window is closed for 5.0. But if you are a developer you already know this

How To Fix Error 1004 and 1003 on iPad Apple Product

Error 1004 and 1013: These errors may be the result of the connection to gs.apple.com being redirected or blocked. Follow these steps to resolve these errors:

Check security software. Ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow this article for assistance with security software. iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.

Check the hosts file. The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. Follow iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting to edit the hosts file or revert to default on Windows. See section "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information".

Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

If you ever edited your hosts file ...change it back. basically do the reverse of this to about step 5:

How To Fix Error Flashdisk

Inspired by the experience some time ago when fixing the flash that reads 0 bytes, I was trying to reformat the flash that was damaged by the tools HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool, but to no avail. Software HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool does not detect the flash.

The second step is to use some tools / software commonly used in repairing a damaged flash such as for example, the Super Stick Recovery Tools, but still flash is not legible. Then I use Low Level Format program and Seatools for Windows, read the flash but still can not be repaired.

Finally I see an article that suggests to me the low-level format your USB stick as well as flash the / re-program the controller IC. After I was unloading the controller IC is Alcor-AU6986. After googling and I found also software for IC AlcorMP_UFD Alcor-AU6986.

How to fix AlcorMP_UFD flash using this tool are as follows:

  1.  Download program for IC AlcorMP_UFD Alcor-AU6986
  2. Once extracted run the file ALCORMP.EXE.     Click the setup menu, if the password window appears click OK
It looks like the picture below, replace the Scan Mode to Low Level Format.

Click Start (A) to start the process, and wait until the finish.

After work, I re-format again stick with the default Windows Format

 Good Luck !!!!

Fix Apple Logo Keeps Running and Froze on Mac

If you had problem like this, I'd recommend you reset the PRAM (command + option + p + r at startup until you hear the startup chime again) and perhaps the PMU just to be thorough (remove battery, unplug it, hold down the power button for 5 seconds or so). Out of curiosity, what computer did you use to reinstall via target disk? If it was by any chance PPC, you didn't install the right one. Of course, you might just have a logic board problem, but if so, there's not much to do about it. Almost sounds like a potential system failure.

If you are unable to restart on a CD and can see the hard drive in Target Disk Mode, then hardware failure is a virtual certainty. You've really done all you can -- Apple will need to look at this Mac.

How To Unlock Ipad from Connect iTunes

iPad is locked if there were previous attempts of wrong password entry.
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it.
This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.

You can place the device into recovery mode and attempt to restore the device again.
Use the following steps to place your device into recovery mode.

1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.

2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPhone or iPod touch to turn off.
(If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.)

3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPhone. When you reconnect the USB cable to iPhone, the device should power on.
Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure the battery has some charge and then start with step 2 again.

4.  Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button:

5.  If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:

6.  Use iTunes to restore the device.

How to Recover Lost Pictures From My Memory Card

  1. Don't attempt to find the photos yourself. If you click around in the folders on a memory card on your computer, you can cause more problems. You don't want to end up deleting your pictures by accident.
  2. Try the card in another camera if the error is on your camera. It is rare, but the potential that it is a camera issue and not a card issue is certainly possible. Even if you test the card in a computer and it works, you won't know for sure that it is a camera issue unless the card works in another camera.
  3. Attempt to open the card on more than one computer if you can. On most Windows systems, the card can be inserted directly into the memory card slot. This slot is on the front or side of laptops, and often hidden behind a panel on desktop computers. If you have a Mac, you will likely need a memory card reader. These devices are made so that the card slides into one end and the other end can be inserted into any USB port on your computer.
  4. It is highly likely that your computer will fail to recognize the files on the card and prompt you to reformat. Say "No." Reformatting the card will erase all of your pictures.
  5. Download a file recovery program. There are free softwares, such as VaioSoft Recovery Manager and SoftPerfect File Recovery, available for download online. These programs will attempt to recover all of the identifiable files on your disk and save them to another location, leaving the original disk unaltered.
  6. Use the file recovery program to find and restore your files. To use VaioSoft Recovery Manager, click on the memory card in the left pane, then click the "Restore" tab. Select the files that you would like to recover on the tab and click "Restore." In SoftPerfect File Recovery, choose the memory disc drive from the drop-down menu next to "Where." Click on the name of a file and click "Restore." Then choose a folder where you would like to save the file and click "Save." Not only will you find those photos currently saved to the card, but also photos that you had deleted. Deleting photos on your camera with the normal delete features deletes photos only from the file system, not from the card itself.

Fix iTunes Common Problem

Love it or hate it, iTunes is one of the most popular media players available, thanks to the success of the iPod and iPhone. The following tips should come in handy for those of you who use iTunes for Windows XP, in the event that your iTunes installation ends up in less-than-perfect operating condition.
First off, we suggest uninstalling iTunes from the Add or Remove Programs Control Panel and then installing the latest version of iTunes downloaded from Apple.com. This may fix some issues with older versions. Apple also suggests keeping your anti-virus software up to date. Now, on to some more-specific issues.

Problem #1

Certain iTunes screens are pink. (Note: Only a problem if you don’t like pink.)
Cause: Windows is set to display a low-quality color palette, and thus cannot correctly render the iTunes window when it demands a high-quality color.
Solution: Make sure Windows is set to display 32-bit color in the Display Control Panel. This will be under the Settings tab, as “Color Quality.”

Problem #2

Error messages as follows:
“iTunes might be unable to launch or communicate with iPod or iPhone.”
“The iPod (Customer’s iPod) cannot be updated. An unknown error occurred (-50)”
“The iPod (Customer’s iPod) could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1418, 1429, 1430, 1436 or 1439)”
Cause: This symptom may be caused by an issue with the digital signing of Windows XP drivers.
Solution: Re-register Certain Windows XP Drivers
